There’s much to know about Miss Greenwood, so without further ado let’s dive into the conversation and start right at the very beginning. What was your childhood like?

I always look back at my childhood like anyone else, with rose coloured glasses! I loved my childhood. It was often characterized by summers in Germany every year with my grandparents and playing at the Wellawatte beach. I often used to go swimming there with my dad and my sister, so it holds a very special place in my heart.
As a child I suppose I always wanted to be a singer! I’ve always loved it and had dreams of one day making it as a Jazz singer. However, at 20 years old now, my ambitions have slightly changed as I hope to work with NGOs in Sri Lanka through my International Relations degree.

How about your schooling career?

I schooled at Asian International School since I was just a wee little girl at two and a half years old. I was drawn towards subjects predominantly based in theoretical work such as Literature, History, Psychology and Geography. The heavy discussions that followed within these topics were also something I really looked forward to and enjoyed thoroughly! Maybe, that’s what drew me into pursuing International Relations because I loved discussing situations and understanding how it they could be best resolved.
At AIS, I did a whole plethora of extracurriculars. By far my most life changing was the Senior Choir because I really think music opened the doors to my true personality and made me bond with my fellow seniors much more. It also inspired me to join the music society here at my University in Japan.

For the past two decades, I’m sure you’ve collected a bucket-load of memories to look back on, one of which was your crowning moment as Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World 2021! Can you share with us a little bit about this life-changing experience?

It was an unforgettable experience. It’s hard to define such a life changing moment because it happens almost instantly and so fast. The emotions running through me that day were almost palpable, but hands down there was sheer excitement of stepping into the unknown and being able to seize an opportunity to represent my country to the best of my abilities.

How did you prepare yourself to represent our island nation at the international pageant held in Puerto Rico?

The preparation process for my role as Miss Sri Lanka was exciting to say the least! I believe the embodiment of Miss Sri Lanka is not just someone that exudes grace, kindness and intelligence but it is also someone that can understand her people and represent them as best as she can. Which is why I have to thank the many people who prepared me for my role as Miss Sri Lanka including and not limited to; Sangeetha Weeraratne, Kumar De Silva, Aseka & Chana Wijewardena, Seneka De Silva, Dhananjaya Bandara, Lashni Munasinghe, Ramani Fernando and Athula Uncle.
