Since World Diabetes Day falls on 14th November, Lanka Woman spoke to Dr. Tharka dharshani kumari to find out the Ayurvedic solutions with respect to food consumption, for the condition. Here is how you can watch what you eat!

What happens in the case of Diabetes…

Diabetes is the condition that occurs when your body cannot make or effectively use its own insulin. Insulin is what serves as a key to open your cells, to allow the glucose from the food you consume, to enter. Then, your body uses that glucose to generate energy.

Essentials tips in controlling glucose with your diet

  • Consume meals on time. Do not delay or miss any of the main meals. Remember that controlling diet does not mean ‘not consuming meals’.
  • You could consume three main meals and two/three short meals throughout the day.
  • Refrain from consuming artificial food.
  • The amount of food should depend on the weight, height and energy consumption of the individual. It is always good to consult a physician or dietician regarding this.
