Life is rarely a linear progression; it is more akin to a well-thumbed anthology. For a family, the transition from one chapter to the next is a profound collective experience. Whether it is moving to a new city, seeing the youngest child off to university, or embarking on a fresh career path, these moments represent a delicate balance between the comfort of the known and the exhilaration - and occasional trepidation - of the unknown.

The Art of Honouring the Past
Before a new chapter can truly begin, the previous one requires a proper conclusion. In the bustle of packing boxes or filing paperwork, it is easy to overlook the emotional labour of saying goodbye. For a family, this phase is about honouring the history you have built together. Taking the time to reminisce - perhaps over a final meal in a long-time family home or by looking through old photographs - is not merely an exercise in nostalgia. It is a vital process of “meaning-making.” By acknowledging the challenges overcome and the joys shared, the family solidifies its foundation. This shared history becomes the “spine” of the book, holding the various chapters together even as the scenery changes.
