Fortune Cooking Oil, Sri Lanka’s number one cooking oil, released a specially-produced song titled “Senehe Ammage” (A Mother’s Love) at a special ceremony held at Cinnamon Grand recently. During this event, the new Pyramid Wilmar website www.pyramidwilmar.com was also ceremoniously launched.

The song, performed by popular artistes Nirosha Virajini, Kasun Kalhara, Shihan Mihiranga and Umaria Sinhawansa, speaks of the greatest love of all - a mother’s love for her child - and how the mother would go out of her way to give the very best to her child. Fortune cooking oil, the internationally-certified cooking oil marketed and distributed in Sri Lanka by Pyramid Wilmar (Pvt) Ltd., continues to be the number one edible oil brand in the island according to the 2015 reports of the research company Lanka Market Research Bureau (LMRB). The research was based on the LMRB Household Panel which is a continuous monthly tracking of household purchases of selected FMCG categories in Sri Lanka. Commenting on the background to the song, Hiranth Fernando, Head of Sales and Marketing stated, “It is the wish of every mother to give the very best for her children. They will nourish them, educate them, guide them, provide them the best of everything and also worry about them every day. At Pyramid Wilmar, we saw a similarity between this motherly need to provide the best to their children and our goal of giving the very best cooking oils to our valued consumers. Therefore, we decided to support this beautiful song and brought together some of the most talented artistes in the music industry.” He added that when it comes to their daily meals, mothers always make sure that their children get balanced, wholesome, home-cooked meals. ‘One of the key ingredients that they use for cooking is oil and research has shown that they trust Fortune cooking oil due to its best quality, hygienic packaging and value for money.” Commenting further, he stated that all efforts are made to provide Fortune cooking oils at a very competitive price. “If a high quality product that is used daily is expensive, it is likely the consumer will eventually turn to cheaper, less quality alternatives due to the economic benefit. But with Fortune cooking oil, this is not the case as they get the best cooking oil at the best price,” he claimed. The current Fortune cooking oil portfolio includes vegetable oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, soya bean oil and corn oil, all of which come in different packaging sizes to suit varying requirements and budgets. Fortune cooking oils are available in retail shops and supermarkets across Sri Lanka. Photographs By Jagath Dharmakeerthi
