What inspired you to begin your professional journey as a Cabin Crew member at SriLankan Airlines, and how did that experience shape your career path?
Starting my career with SriLankan Airlines was driven by my genuine passion for service excellence, meaningful people interaction, and the opportunity for global exposure. From a young age, I was fascinated by cultures, communication, and the art of delivering exceptional service. Aviation gave me the perfect platform to combine all these interests in a dynamic and challenging environment.
The experience taught me invaluable lessons in discipline, adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and the importance of clear and confident communication. Working in a high-responsibility environment required precision, emotional control, and teamwork. Each flight brought different passengers, different expectations, and sometimes unexpected challenges. Learning to respond calmly and professionally strengthened my character.
Most importantly, it built my confidence. Engaging with passengers from diverse backgrounds helped me understand people deeply. Over time, I realised that my true passion extended beyond service delivery - I was genuinely interested in developing people. That realisation sparked my interest in people development and eventually inspired my transition into HR and training.
