Sevilla España

6 February 2018 01:48 pm By Indika Madapatha Sellahewa Seville, The beautiful City in Spain where Flamenco Dancing, Spanish Haciendas and Siesta times are real. Situated in Southern Spain, Seville or Sevilla (pronounced Seviiya in Spanish), the Capital of the Andalusian region, is a city steeped in culture and history. Seville is the city of Flamenco dancing, the city of grand churches with steeples and monuments, rows of terraced houses on cobbled pathways, with trellised balconies and baroque buildings. This beautiful and magnificent city depicts a bygone era of splendour with its breathtaking architecture, friendly and beautiful people who are very family oriented, people who love to have fun and people who love life and the outdoors. When you walk around Sevilla’s town of Santa Euphemia in Tomares in the summer evenings, you will see that almost everyone is outdoors, sitting at outside cafes, eating, drinking and being happy. The city comes alive after 5 p.m and it is a hype of activity until well past midnight. For people of Sevilla, siesta time from around 1 p.m to 5 p.m comes in the summer when the weather gets very hot and dry. And if you walk around the city, you will not find a single shop or restaurant open at this time. During siesta time, they have their siestas (afternoon nap or rest), and re-open at 5 p.m. This is when the fun begins.
