Holidaying in the USA New York, Washington DC, Virginia Beach, Norfolk (Part I)

The decision to visit the USA was a long awaited one, and in June, suddenly before we knew it, here we were packing for our trip. My husband and I were going on such a long journey overseas without the kids for the first time by ourselves. 22 Years to be exact, and, on holiday! We were excited. We had planned exactly what we were going to do and the kids helped with suggestions.

America was something we grew up with although we had no real idea of it. With all the favourite Hollywood movies, and a bit of culture too even though it’s not directly visible to us. Through technology like the very first television, we saw mostly American TV shows, movies apart from British ones, and detective shows and comedy since we were kids in the 70’s and 80’s. And in our modern day to day life most of the techchy stuff we are accustomed to, are American. Our Apple gadgets, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and many others. Not only these, the famous brands that we know and want to be associated with such as Levis, Nike, Adidas, H&M and many more are all American and most of them are produced in our beautiful little island Sri Lanka too. So seeing and experiencing this same America and actually being on the other side of the world, was almost beyond words.
