In my last article we discussed how visceral fat can be harmful to your body and the diseases related to having a high waist circumference. Now we will look at what we can do to reduce our belly fat.
There are several ways you can minimize the accumulation of visceral fat. Belly fat responds more efficiently to diet and exercise than fat on your hips and thighs.
Eat a balanced diet
To maintain a healthy weight and to keep your belly fat in check, you have to eat a nutritious balanced diet. Avoid trans-fats such as hydrogenated vegetable oils, refined and sweetened foods and sugary beverages. Pay attention to portion size and emphasize on complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, vegetables, fruits and lean proteins. You can discuss with a dietician to formulate a healthy diet plan which is suitable for you.
