Can you explain the difference between everyday anxiety and an anxiety disorder?

Feeling anxious from time to time is very common for many people. However, occasional anxiety does not constitute an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is essentially a human response to stress, worry, or tension. It can be considered a survival mechanism, triggering a fight, flight, or freeze response when faced with a potentially harmful situation. Although anxiety can be uncomfortable, it also serves as a valuable warning system to alert us to danger in our environment. On the other hand, anxiety disorder is a more serious condition that can significantly impact a person’s life, affecting relationships and overall work performance. Anxiety disorders can manifest in various forms, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Panic Disorder.
